The first year of a baby's life is full of so many changes! They go from being a 7 lb little person who only cares about eating and sleeping, to a running, jumping 20 lb toddler full of personality! First birthdays are a huge reason to celebrate, and I love documenting them for families. '
A cake smash is a great way to celebrate a first birthday. As with all cake smashes, we start off with some regular portraits. Little R was very mobile and loved running off the set, but we were able to capture quite a few adorable portraits. Isn't his little smile just too cute?!
We were also able to get in a few images with mom and big brother B. This image just captures the two boys' personalities exactly; One quiet and serious, and the other...not so much! He was such a goof and made me laugh so much during the session!
R's mom choose the cutest little outfit for his session too. I just love these little suspenders! We usually go with a simple set up for the portraits to allow the birthday boy to shine; I have a number of plain and patterned backdrops to choose from.
Next we moved on to the cake smash! R's mom chose Dr Seuss for the theme and I just love how the bright colours turned out. Mom provided the cake and as always, I provide the decor and outfit. R wasn't so sure about touching the cake, but given a spoon he was more than happy to dig in!
After decimating the cake we moved on to the bubble bath to clean up. You can see how much cake there is behind him on the floor; he sure had fun with it! It took R a bit to get used to the water, but as soon as he realized he could splash the bubbles he started laughing and had a great time!
